Every Picture Tells A Story.

Rod Stewart was a bad joke to me by the eighties (Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?), and his recent recordings of standards don't interest me at all (I haven't heard them and don't want to). This album is something else. The Faces are a loose yet tight band, and the sound is clean but informal and earthy. Great songs, great singing, great band. Highly recommended.

I had much the same experiance. I was in my early 20 when Stewart was with Faces and Ron Wood. Maggie May was a seminal tune. I lost track and taste during his Disco, and later era's.. He had some good 80's moments that can be enjoyed, and he certainly brought some sense to the 21st Century with his Great American Songbook, especially the first two albums. Great stuff and very well recorded. Slow dancing is cool to, especially after 50. Not sure how old you are mate but They Can't Take that Away From me and The Way You look tonight are great performances in their own rights, live or recorded.

Wouldn't you know, I picked up a vinyl copy of that at the local Salvation Army store today, for all of 99 cents! It's in great shape, looks like it hasn't been played.

I think I'll go listen now!

This was my very first LP, I was 12. It's still great, and I fully agree with your comment - Stewart lost track after this LP.
